Privacy policy

TriviaFall is made by StrathWorks Ltd, registered in Scotland (Company No. SC880795), ICO registration ZC106488 ("we", "us"). This page explains what data TriviaFall collects, why, who it's shared with, and how to have it deleted. If anything here doesn't match what the app actually does, please email us and we'll fix either the app or this page.

What we collect, and why

Account and identity

You can play TriviaFall without an account, as an anonymous player. If you sign in with Google, Sign in with Apple, or an email and password, we store your chosen display name, your topic stats, and your Firebase user ID. We don't ask for or store your name or profile photo from Google or Apple beyond what's needed to complete sign-in. Your chosen display name is checked by AlectoCore, our own content-moderation service, before it's accepted, to keep names free of impersonation and abuse.

Gameplay and stats

Match results, per-topic scores, levels, and personal bests are stored against your account so your profile and any public leaderboard entries work. If you play as an anonymous player, this data is tied to a locally generated device identifier instead, and stays on your device.

Social features

If you add friends, send live-match invites, or opt in to notifications when a friend beats your score, we store the minimum needed to make those features work: friend relationships, pending requests, blocks, and (if you opt in) a push-notification device token.

Question reports

If you report a question as wrong, ambiguous, or outdated, we store the report against your account so we can follow up if needed. If you delete your account, the report is kept (it's useful editorial signal) but is no longer linked to you.

Purchases

TriviaFall Plus, a one-time in-app purchase, is handled by Google Play Billing and processed by RevenueCat, our subscription/purchase management provider. RevenueCat receives your Firebase user ID (so your purchase is tied to your account, not your device) and purchase/transaction details from Google Play. We don't see or store your payment card details — Google Play handles that directly.

Advertising

TriviaFall shows ads via Google AdMob, which may use device and advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where you've consented. If you're in the UK or EEA, you'll see a consent form the first time you open the app, and you can change your choice any time from Settings → Ad privacy options. See Google's own disclosure for what AdMob itself collects.

Crash and diagnostic data

TriviaFall uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports (device model, OS version, app version, and the crash's stack trace) so we can fix defects. This is not linked to your account identity.

What stays on your device only

If you play without signing in, your stats, recorded practice runs, and cached questions live only on your device and are never sent to us. You can clear all of this at any time from Settings → Delete my local data, which also resets your local identifier.

How long we keep data

Account data (profile, stats, leaderboard entries, friends, notifications settings) is kept for as long as your account exists. You can erase specific categories of it while keeping your account, or delete your account entirely — see how to manage or delete your data. Locally recorded runs on your device expire automatically after 90 days, or 30 days of not being used in a match, whichever comes first.

Who we share data with

We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else.

Children

TriviaFall isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your rights

You can access, correct, erase specific data, or delete your account entirely at any time from Settings, or by requesting it here. If you're in the UK or EEA, you have rights under GDPR/UK GDPR including the right to a copy of your data — email us and we'll help. We're registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO reference ZC106488) as the data controller for TriviaFall.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change what we collect or why, we'll update this page and, where required, ask for your consent again.
